PreSurgery/MRI Checklist


PRE-SURGERY CHECKLIST

  • Records sent to Cave Creek Equine Surgical Center
  • Images (x-rays, ultrasounds, endoscopy) sent to Cave Creek Equine Surgical Center
  • Consent for has been either filled-out online, or printed  and completed
  • Patient should be held off feed for 8-12 hours prior to the procedure (don't forget to take the hay out of the trailer)

PRE-MRI CHECKLIST

  • Records sent to Cave Creek Equine Surgical Center
  • Images (x-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy) sent to Cave Creek Equine Surgical Center
  • Consent has either been filled-out online, or printed and completed
  • Have all 4 shoes removed prior to admission to the hospital. Horse shoes are not compatible with the large magnets of the MRI.
  • Patient should be held off feed for 8-12 hours prior to the procedure (don't forget to take the hay out of the trailer)
Before bringing your horse to Cave Creek Equine Surgical & Diagnostic Imaging Center, please be sure that we have access to your previous medical records if they are important to the case. Please be sure to notify us of any special requirements your horse may need during their hospitalization. Most surgical procedures and MRI appointments require that the horse be kept off food 8 to 12 hours before the scheduled procedure. All horses coming for an MRI should have all 4 shoes pulled prior to admission to the hospital. Horse shoes are not compatible with the large magnets of the MRI.
